Mon, Nov
17 Albany W
75-64
-DePaul
played a lower tier
Division I
team
on Monday
night and still got outrebounded and
outscored in the paint. But the most startling point
was the development of Mac Koshwal. Yes, DePaul won
the game, but this is a game where you hope to see
your big guys have their way in the paint. But that
wasn't the case for Koshwal. At 6-9 255 pounds, you
would expect to see DePaul eager to get him going,
but he only made one
field goal
the entire game and that was on a breakaway dunk.
Jerry Wainwright
did not call for one play to get the ball to Koshwal
in the paint. Not one! Instead, Jerry allowed his
guys to jack up three-pointers and score on
isolation. Yeah, that's going to work against better
opponents. Let's see how the offense works against
UIC
on Saturday.
Sat, Nov
22 at Ill. Chicago
W 67-63
-DePaul
blows a 13 point second half lead and barely hang on
to beat the Horizon League powerhouse UIC Flames.
Wed, Nov
26 Detroit
W 71-62
-This tough schedule brings the mighty Detroit
Titans to the Allstate Arena. Detroit with
their 1-2 record challenged the Demons, but they
were eventually able to pull away with an
unimpressive victory.
Sat, Nov
29 Indiana St.
W 75-70
-Continuing their demanding early season scheduling,
the Demons welcomed 0-3 Indiana State to the
Allstate Arena. The Demons led by 20 at
the half. Finally, we are going to see DePaul
blow out a team they should blow out. Nope,
this is Jerry's DePaul squad. The Sycamores
got within 2 with 1:01 to play. The Demons
barely hung on and got the victory.
Wed, Dec
3 at California
L 67-77
-DePaul
finally had an above average opponent. They
came out and played pretty much as expected.
Cal was able to get a nice 14 point halftime
cushion. Cal is not DePaul, so they did not
blow their lead and coasted to a 10 point victory.
The only nervousness was from the Cal fans in Vegas
who weren't sure if the Golden Bears would cover the
9 point spread. They did.
The Demons shot a pathetic 10-21 from the free throw
stripe. Probably want to get a few extra free
throw reps in practice Jerry.
Sat, Dec
6 at Northwestern
L 63-36
-Jerry brought his DePaul squad to Evanston so they
could get embarrassed by national basketball
powerhouse Northwestern on Saturday. Mac Koshwal
didn't play because of a foot injury, but that's not
an excuse for not scoring a field goal during an
8:30 span in the second half. The defense was
pathetic as Northwestern executed easy back doors
and hit open 3-pointers. Nobody is sure what kind of
offense DePaul is trying to run, unless there is a
system where you clear out and Dar Tucker attempts a
contested 3-pointer. Let's remember Northwestern was
1-17 in Big Ten play last season and they also lost
to Robert Morris earlier in the season. What the
hell is going on with this program?
Wed, Dec
10 Morgan St.
L 79-75
-Obviously the program hit an all-time low on Wednesday night. Jerry found a way to lose to a brutal Morgan State program at home. Most people did not see this possible, but Jerry continues to amaze DePaul fans while he tears down a once proud basketball program. He found a way to not qualify for the Big East tournament two out of the last three years. He found a way to lose to North Carolina A&T at home a year ago. He found a way to lose to UIC at home a year ago. Then last Saturday under Jerry's watch DePaul got hammered by Northwestern, a program that went 1-17 in the Big Ten last year.
Nobody knows what kind of offensive system he is running and he doesn't know where to start on defense, except yelling to his players, "Stance." What the hell does that mean? The program already hit an all-time low and UCLA is on the schedule for Saturday. Maybe Ben Howland might call off the dogs, Jerry can only hope.
Let's hire a coach that at least has a clue before DePaul loses out on a talented Chicago area 2011 class.
Sat, Dec
13 at UCLA
L 72-54
-Well....This is a game where we can't blame Jerry.
I actually felt the Demons would lose by 30-40
points, so this wasn't so bad. Yeah, they got
dominated as expected by a superior team.
DePaul fans hoped to "shock the world" with a
victory, but not a chance.
Wed, Dec
17 Liberty
W 64-63
-Back to the cupcake
schedule. The Demons welcome a below average
Big South team into the Allstate Arena.
The cupcake schedule almost backfires on Jerry, as
DePaul is able to squeak out a victory receiving the
benefit of a questionable foul call with 1.1 seconds
left. Oh, and as usual, DePaul blew a 16 point
halftime lead.
Fri, Dec
19 Southern
W 83-46
-Hey, what better way to get this team prepared for
Big East play with a game against 0-9 Southern!
I guess you have to find a way to get a few W's in
your record before conference play starts.
It's a waste of time to even enjoy this victory.
Mon, Dec
22 at Saint Louis
W 65-61
-The Demons are in Vegas! The squad was able
to pry Jerry away from the craps table for a few
hours to lead them to a victory against Rick Majerus'
Saint Louis Billikens. It was pretty tight
throughout and the Demons stunned everyone by making
8-8 free throws over the last minute and a half.
These are the games the Demons usually blow, but
they were able to hold on. The Demons advance
to the title game of the prestigious Las Vegas
Classic.
Tue, Dec
23
Creighton L 83-75
-Vegas may have gotten to the Demons for this one.
How do you explain the 18 turnovers? A long
night at Pure? A few drinks at Tao?
Blackjack til 5 AM? An unforgettable evening
at Sapphire? Who knows, but the Demons weren't
sharp early. They did find their bearings and
cut the lead to 2 with just over 2 minutes
remaining. However, Creighton held on and took
the tournament title.
Sun, Dec
28 Alcorn St.
W 90-67
-What better way to come off a loss than to face
Alcorn State at home. Most Chicago area high
schools could probably beat Alcorn State. The
2-9 Braves didn't put up much of a fight. Yet
another automatic W scheduled to try and make Jerry
look good.
Wed, Dec
31 Notre Dame
L 92-82
-Finally, Big East play has begun. Now the
Demons are forced to play good teams and we can see
what they really are. The Irish really had
control throughout this entire game. The
Demons couldn't answer the contributions from every
member of the Notre Dame starting five.
Luckily it was a pretty quick game and Jerry
probably was able to make it to his New Year's
celebration before midnight.
Sat, Jan
3 at Providence
L 62-54
-Jerry and the squad
traveled to Rhode Island for this Big East matchup.
They never led in this one. The 3-Point
offense faltered today as the Demon's only shot 3-19
beyond the arc. They don't offensively game
plan much else, so if the 3's aren't falling, then
Jerry ain't winning.
Wed, Jan
7 at Syracuse
L 85-68
-Nobody really expected DePaul to compete in this
one. That is how low this program has become.
You can't let yourself get pumped up for a big game,
because you know your team doesn't stand a chance.
The Orange absolutely dominated, as expected.
This one was over before it started, kind of
depressing.
Sat, Jan
10 South Florida
L 80-58
-This one wasn't pretty. DePaul got pounded on the glass by a team that was predicted by the coaches to finish last in the Big East. Jerry's squad was never in this one. After the game he said his team was hampered because Mike Bizoukas and Mario Stulla were out with the flu. What a poor excuse. Wainwright never plays these guys. I'm sure Stulla and Bizoukas would've helped on the glass. Please.
Sat, Jan
17 Cincinnati
L 59-55
-Well Jerry was proud his squad gave a good effort. Jerry's club got in the hole early, came back in the second half. They had a chance to take the lead at the end, but Will Walker forced a 3-pointer and missed. But, Jerry thought it was a good look.
Tue, Jan
20 at South Florida
L 70-61
-After the game Jerry said he tried to grind it out on the offensive end and run some clock. Well how bout running an offense that puts your club in a position to score? Once again, DePaul got pounded on the boards. South Florida has two wins in the Big East. Guess who they're against? Before the season, JLP said, "I think we will surprise some people." Well Jerry and the boys delivered on that promise. They managed to get
out rebounded by 20 twice to South Florida. Something nobody could've expected. They're also on the process of losing every Big East game this season. It turns out Jerry sure left a surprise for JLP.
Sat, Jan
24 at Marquette
L 79-70
-Hey Jerry! Congrats.
You have certainly won the battle with the Chicago
media. You found a way to convince the media that
winning one game in the Big East is just icing on
the cake if you have a young team. After Jerry's
squad lost at Marquette for the 17th time in its
last 19 Big East games, Jerry basically insinuated
that they can't beat experienced teams because Jerry
plays too many underclassmen. Somehow, Wilson
Chandler's name keeps coming up in stories. He left
after the 2006-07 season, but Jerry keeps bringing
up his name. Good coaches move on when they lose
young talented players. Ohio State coach Thad Matta
isn't using Greg Oden and Mike Conley Jr. as excuses
this season, but Jerry continues to drop Chandler's
name. DePaul fans are tired of excuses from
Wainwright. They have heard all of them. They always
hear how the academic quarter system interferes with
in November, or how not having a
strength-conditioning coach last season put them at
a disadvantage, now the fans are hearing about
youth. Please stop with the excuses.
Wed, Jan
28 Connecticut
L 71-49
-Even before Jerry
dropped another bomb on the court Wednesday, many
DePaul fans were shocked when they found out he
already signed a contract extension. Well,
apparently Jerry signed a contract extension through
the 2012 season, after that memorable NIT run in
2007. This was never publicly announced until
Wednesday. This is probably the main reason why
Jerry may be here for years to come. This is right
up there with the Charlie Weis extension, but at
least ND fans were notified about it when it
happened. A lot of people want to know why this
wasn't announced two years ago and rightfully so.
On to the game, the second half didn't go well
against UConn, DePaul only scored 14 points and
ended up getting routed by 22. But Jerry said this,
"We scored 14 points in the second half but they
only scored 30." Enough said.
Sat, Jan
31 at Rutgers
L 75-56
-The
tone was set early last week when DePaul athletic
director Jean Lenti Ponsetto gave Jerry Wainwright a
glowing endorsement, then word came out that Jerry
is signed through the 2012 season. There was no
official release of the extension, but it supposedly
happened after the 2007 NIT run. With all the
confidence in the world from Ponsetto, Jerry and his
squad got blown out again by a then 9-12 Rutgers
team. It was another embarrassing game for
Wainwright, but Jerry and his staff didn't take any
of the blame. The blame went on the players for two
miscues during a 19-point loss.
Ponsetto needs to remember DePaul charges up to $100
a ticket for its home games, plus the athletic
department takes on donations from DePaul boosters.
For her not to announce Jerry's extension when it
happened is a slap in the face to all DePaul fans.
Just imagine if Notre Dame never announced Charlie
Weis' extension, then it came out after last
season's debacle that he has another seven years
left because he re-upped two years ago without it
being announced. Well, ND fans would be outraged and
it would make headlines across the country. Lucky
for those accountable with the mess at DePaul they
don't hear the criticism because nobody cares.
Tue, Feb
3 Marquette
L 76-61
-Despite an economic recession and a
poor basketball team, DePaul decided to jack up the
ticket prices for this one. The cheapest ticket
price was $40, plus don't forget $11 for parking.
Anyways, Jerry and the boys got blown out again.
Yes, Dar Tucker was hurt and didn't play, but it
just goes to show the poor vision Jerry had for the
program when he was recruiting in the past years.
DePaul didn't have the depth and talent to compete
with Marquette and it showed at every position on
the floor.
It is pretty sad that Tom Crean can find a way to
win a conference game in the Big Ten with an
entirely different team from a season ago, yet Jerry
can't get a win in the Big East with three of his
four returning scorers from last season.
Sat, Feb
7 Pittsburgh
L 92-69
-They kept it close in the first half
but it got real ugly in the second half. Jerry and
his coaching staff had a terrible defensive game
plan. Levance Fields did everything he wanted on the
perimeter, dishing out an astonishing 16 assists. As
expected, DeJuan Blair set a career-high in scoring
and dominated the boards. Of course after the game,
Jerry used inexperience as an excuse, just as we
expected.
Tue, Feb
10 Seton Hall
L 72-49
-What a nightmare this was. Jerry and
his staff just didn't have his players prepared for
this one. They were never in it and it appeared they
stopped playing for him midway through the first
half. Of course about only 2,000 fans showed up to
see this disaster, and many of the fans that stayed
around voiced their displeasure at Jerry. After
watching this game we would be shocked if Jerry is
back as the head coach next season.
Sun, Feb
15 at Louisville
L 99-54
-Just a complete embarrassment. Jerry
decided not to start a point guard against a Rick
Pitino coached team. That's like taking a dump
without using toilet paper to clean up. It's going
to be messy, and of course, it was messy at Freedom
Hall for the Blue Demons on Sunday. Dar Tucker, who
attempted to bring up the ball, committed seven
turnovers and they were never in the game again.
After the game, Jerry once again said youth is the
reason they got blown out. DePaul fans are sick of
that excuse, especially when Jerry rarely has the
team playing competitive basketball. Hey Jerry!
Don't you remember you missed the Big East
tournament two out of the last three years with
experienced players. It's time for Jerry to be held
accountable.

Jerry Wainwright Radio Show
-After a week full of embarrassing
losses, Jerry had to answer questions from irate
DePaul fans on his radio show. "I'm not making any
excuses. How I'm evaluated is how I'm evaluated, but
we will be evaluated as a basketball team, not some
type of program that's a disgrace, that's the only
thing." said Wainwright, during his hour long show.
Earlier in day, former UCLA coach and now current
ESPN analyst Steve Lavin was on AM 1000. When asked
about DePaul, Lavin talked about Northwestern, then
after being asked a second time about DePaul, Lavin
did not comment about the DePaul situation. Lavin
probably didn't want to bad mouth an administration
that he might be interviewing with in a few months,
or maybe some discussions have already started with
DePaul. Maybe the DePaul administration is already
working behind the scenes. Stay tuned.
Sat, Feb
21 at Pittsburgh
L 81-60
-Instead of preparing for DePaul,
Pitt head coach Jamie Dixon decided to fly down to
Florida and watch Spring Training. It's apparent
that DePaul has turned into that "automatic win
game." Where opposing players and coaches can look
pass DePaul and still get a win. In this one, Pitt
toyed with Jerry and the boys in the first and half
and turned it on the second half for another
double-digit loss for Jerry and his crew.
Wed, Feb
25 Villanova
L 74-72
-Jerry and the boys blew a
double-digit lead in the second half. This one
wasn't as close as the score indicated. DePaul never
led in the final 5:00, something they have yet to do
in the Big East conference schedule this season.
Villanova kissed Jerry's ass after the game, but he
only did it because he knows Wainwright is not
threat and the conference needs an "automatic win
game" every once awhile.
Sat, Feb 28 St. John's
L 84-63
-St. John's came into this one
without a conference road win, but it didn't matter
on Saturday because they were playing a Jerry
Wainwright coached team. Wainwright and his staff
weren't prepared for this one, as the score
indicated with numerous embarrassing stretches.
Jerry was rightfully booed in this game for his lack
of preparation and his overall track record. Despite
losing his 16th straight game, DePaul athletic
director Jeanie Lenti-Ponsetto was there to protect
Jerry after the game. "I know by and large most
people evaluate college basketball by wins and
losses. By my perspective, there are 20 things
I judge a coach and staff on," said Lenti-Ponsetto.
"We're optimistic about the future of the program."
After those quotes, nobody can honestly say that
Lenti-Ponsetto has the expertise to be in control of
a men's basketball program. If a student at DePaul
failed every class, that student would be kicked out
of DePaul. It does not matter if that student was a
great person and worked hard. The fact is, he
couldn't compete academically with the rest of his
peers and he was hurting the academic integrity of
DePaul. The same should go for Jerry, he was brought
in to win basketball games, and so far he has failed
every class and compete with the rest of his peers..
Wed, Mar
4 at West Virginia
L 82-63
-Will Walker saved Jerry from another
embarrassing night. Walker, basically by himself,
kept Jerry's boys in it with 31 points. But another
startling stat was that Mac Koshwal attempted only
five shots and went scoreless. Koshwal, who was one
of the top recruits in the country, has struggled to
get the ball in scoring situations because of
Jerry's inability to run an offensive system.
Sat, Mar 7 at Georgetown
L 48-40
-Congrats Jerry. You coached DePaul
to an 0-18 season. Just the third team in Big East
history to accomplish the feat. Jerry did not try
anything fancy in this one. He probably just told
Dar Tucker to shoot at every opportunity. Dar had no
problem with those instructions. He jacked up 18
shots and only made three. The offensive results was
symbolic of Jerry's career, besides not being able
to recruit and being the head coach of one of the
worst defensive teams in the Big East.
Tue, Mar 10
Cincinnati (Big East Tournament) W
67-57
-It took 19 games but Jerry finally
found a way to run into a win. They finally were
able to take advantage of a brutal Bearcats team,
who was playing some of its worst basketball of the
season. In no case was this considered a quality
win. Cincinnati is not going anywhere, but this
isn't about Cincinnati, this about Jerry Wainwright
and the problems that he brought on to a once proud
basketball program. This is about a coach who failed
to make the Big East Tournament two of his first
three years, and the only reason he made it in year
four was because the Big East implemented a new rule
to allow Big East teams in the Tournament. This is
also a coach that lost home games to North Carolina
A&M, UIC, South Florida and Morgan State. Yeah,
let's look at Jerry's body of work!
Wed, Mar 11
Providence (Big East Tournament)
L 84-74
-"Jerry is our guy," said DePaul
Athletic Director Jean Lenti Ponsetto, after Jerry
Wainwright lost for the 19th time in 20 games. We
are in terrible economic times and many good quality
workers have lost their jobs, but Wainwright
continues to get praised by his athletic director
despite a terrible tenure of men's basketball coach
at DePaul University. We do not know where Ponsetto
is coming from, but it is fishy that she will stick
with Wainwright. It is a well known fact that
Ponsetto and Wainwright are good friends, but
sometimes you have to separate friendship from your
professional life, especially when you are charging
up to a $100.00 a ticket to attend a DePaul
basketball game. This isn't right and it sounds like
an inside deal between the two. We are now calling
this debacle the "Ponsy Scheme."
Wed, Mar 25
OFFSEASON UPDATE
-So JLP puts pressure on Jerry
Wainwright to ask his son to resign. That's what
happened and everybody around the program knows it.
Why would Scott leave on his own? For one, it's a
terrible economy and finding a new job is obviously
tough right now. But let's get to the point.
Obviously Scott is the scapegoat in this horrible
situation. Yeah, maybe he didn't do a decent job
when it came to preparing for an opponent, but he is
far from the problem and Jerry knows it. The problem
starts and ends with Jerry. Jerry should own up to
that fact and resign.
In the coming days, JLP might be in a perfect
situation to get the program going again. Kentucky
will likely buyout Billy Gillespie's contract for $6
million. Then JLP must put pressure on Wainwright to
resign and hire Gillespie. This probably won't
happen, but it would be the right move. Gillespie
would have DePaul in the NIT next season and in the
NCAA tournament the following season. Yes, he had
trouble in Lexington, but that is a different beast
than DePaul. Just look at what he did at Texas A&M.
He took over a bad program and led them to the NIT
in two seasons. Than he developed Acie Law into
first round pick and they had a nice run in the NCAA
tournament. Gillespie would do wonders with Dar
Tucker and Mac Koshwal, and also the recruiting
would improve. Let's remember he was an assistant to
Bill Self at Illinois, so he knows the area well.
This would be a brilliant move by JLP to execute
this plan, but let's keep dreaming.
Tue, Mar 31
OFFSEASON UPDATE
-According to Dan Bernstein of WSCR,
DePaul athletic director Jean Lenti-Ponsetto tried
to buyout Jerry Wainwright's contract, but the
problem is she only wanted to buyout half of the
three years remaining on his contract. Jerry said
no, so Ponsetto canned his son then told the rest of
his staff to look for new jobs. Apparently, the two
are at a standoff which may eventually end the era
of bad coaching at DePaul. According to Bernstein,
DePaul is interested in Southern Illinois head coach
Chris Lowery. Lowery would probably bring some of
his staff with him to Chicago, which includes former
DePaul assistant Lance Irvin. Irvin, may be the key
to landing several outstanding 2011 Chicago
recruits. Wayne Blackshear, one of the top recruits
in the country, will play for Irvin's brother next
season at Morgan Park High School. Michael Shaw,
another top 2011 recruit plays for Irvin's dad's AAU
team along with Blackshear. And Shaw's teammate at
De La Salle High School, Andre Henley is another top
2011 recruit. Let's not forget Billy Gillespie is
available and should be a serious candidate for the
job. While at Kentucky he already offered to Henley.
JLP needs to hammer this situation out before this
turns into a PR disaster.
Wed, Apr 1 OFFSEASON UPDATE
-Chicago Tribune sports editor Dan
McGrath wasted his time writing a story if DePaul
belongs in the Big East. Instead of wasting his time
with that story he should have asked Jean
Lenti-Ponsetto if she tried to buyout Jerry
Wainwright's contract. He also should have asked
Jerry if he was asked to fire his son. DePaul fans
don't get any answers in this story. Instead, he
questions if DePaul would be better off playing on
the Lincoln Park campus. McGrath, sports editor of
one the nation's largest papers, has no clue of what
is going on with the DePaul basketball program and
just wasted a bunch of space.
You would have to be an idiot to believe the reason
Scott Wainwright left DePaul was to pursue other
options. The real reason Scottie left DePaul was
because his dad did a miserable job coaching and
they couldn't win a regular season conference game
in 18 tries. Let's cut the BS in Lincoln Park.
Everybody that follows the DePaul program deserves
better. It's apparent this program is an utter mess
and it's time for Ponsetto to tell DePaul fans what
the hell is going on with the program. Enough of the
spin.
Tue, Apr 14 OFFSEASON UPDATE:
DAR AND PLAGIARISM
-After a terrible basketball season,
DePaul University dropped to a new low of plagiarism
on Tuesday. But first, most of you probably know Dar
Tucker entered his name in the 2009 NBA Draft and
hired an agent, so he won't be eligible to play
college basketball again. Obviously, the season was
mess, with an 0-18 Big East regular season. But it
got a little more messy on a simple press release
from DePaul, announcing that Tucker would be
leaving. In the release, Tucker praised coach Jerry
Wainwright, Athletic Director Jean Lenti Ponsetto
and DePaul fans for their support. He said he talked
about his future with Wainwright. But did he really?
We have a hard time believing the quote used in the
release was his, because they were the same exact
words Wilson Chandler used when he announced two
years ago his intentions to go pro and leave DePaul. Here
is Tucker's quote from the release and let's
remember this was used as a quote and not as a
statement.
"After careful consideration, I have decided to
enter my name in the 2009 NBA Draft," said Tucker.
"This decision did not come easy for me because of
my feelings for DePaul University. Coach Wainwright,
my family and I have talked about my future and
together we all decided this was the best decision
for me at this time based upon personal
circumstances."
"The coaches, staff and my teammates have been
extremely supportive of me over the last two
seasons, including now, and I just want to thank
them for their support. Coach Wainwright and Jean
Lenti Ponsetto have been instrumental in my
development as an athlete and, more importantly, as
an adult. Coach Wainwright has taught me about
responsibility and accountability, invaluable
lessons that will now guide me as I become a
professional athlete. Also, I want to thank my
family and friends for their love and support.
Finally and most importantly, I want to thank the
DePaul fans for their support the last two years and
I look forward to representing this fine institution
on the professional level."
Now let's see what Chandler said two years ago.
"After careful consideration, I have decided to
enter my name in the 2007 NBA Draft. This decision
did not come easy for me because of my feelings for
DePaul University," Chandler said. "Coach Jerry
Wainwright, my family and I have talked about my
future and together we all decided this was the best
decision for me at this time based upon personal
circumstances."
"The coaches, athletics staff and my teammates have
been extremely supportive of me over the last two
seasons, including now, and I want to thank them for
their support," Chandler added. "Coach Wainwright
and Jean Lenti Ponsetto have been instrumental in my
development as an athlete, but more importantly as
an adult. Coach Wainwright has taught me about
responsibility and accountability, invaluable
lessons that will now guide me as I become a
professional athlete. I also want to thank my family
and friends for their love and support. Finally, I
want to thank the DePaul fans for their support over
the past two years. I look forward to representing
this fine institution on the professional level."
Dar and Wilson must really think alike!
This is an example of the spin we are hearing out of
the DePaul athletic department. We can't believe
anything we hear about the program is true.. Do we
believe anyone in the department when they say
Jerry's job is safe. No. Especially reading the BS
from Dar.
We would like to know who made up the quotes for Dar
and we're wondering why they can't get any more
creative. We also expect a little more honesty from
a university. Also we expect a little more from Dar,
who was enrolled at DePaul for six semesters.
Below, you can read the plagiarism/cheating policy
at DePaul, obviously some people need to be
reminded.
Plagiarism/Cheating Policy
The following paragraphs summarize university and
school policy on plagiarism: Students in this
course, as well as all courses in which independent
research or writing (including writing computer
programs) play a vital part in the course
requirements, should be aware of the strong
sanctions that can be imposed against someone guilty
of plagiarism. If proven, a charge of plagiarism
could result in an automatic F in the course and
possible expulsion. The strongest of sanctions will
be imposed on anyone who submits as his/her own work
a report, examination paper, computer file, lab
report, or other assignment which has been prepared
by someone else. If you have any questions or doubts
about what plagiarism entails or how to properly
acknowledge source materials be sure to consult me.
Submitting as one's own work, a computer program
written by someone else or directly derived from
someone else's program is considered plagiarism. (A
program is directly derived from someone else's
program when the program is identical to someone
else's program expect for minor changes such as
reformatting, change of variable names, etc.) There
is no such thing as the innocent submission of
another's program. When sufficient proof exists, it
merits the strongest of sanctions (course failure
with notification of the student's college dean).
Copying from another student's examination paper or
allowing another student to copy from your
examination paper is also a violation of DePaul
academic standards. The sanctions described above
apply. |
